The Outreach Team provides Street Outreach services (food, drink, blankets, hats, gloves and scarves, counseling and referrals) to youth who are on the street or unable to come into shelter. They work to develop trusting relationships with youth in an effort to encourage them to utilize the services at the Crisis Center.

Due to the nature of living on the street and the dangerous situations that come with that situation, it is not always safe for youth to interact with the Outreach Staff and all efforts are made to keep both the Staff and youth safe. The Outreach team collaborates with other agencies and organizations to help meet the youths’ immediate needs while on the street. They can transport youth to Covenant House as well as other agencies.

The Street Outreach Team is also part of the Philadelphia Anti-Trafficking Coalition. The staff conducts human trafficking trainings in various communities throughout Pennsylvania, teaching people about ways to identify trafficking victims and what to do if they come across a victim of trafficking.

The Street Outreach team also works to build connections with communities to identify possible locations where human trafficking occurs. They proceed to scout the identified area while blitzing it with hotline information. Communities can be the best advocate for change so educating neighbors about the issue is of high importance.
