Youth Advisor: Covenant House Pennsylvania has an immediate opening for a Youth Advisor to provide casemanagement, guidance and counseling to adolescents in a residential setting (51 bed facility). Assists in develpong goal plans and supervises actitivties; participates in team meetings for case rewiew and transition, Must have excellent writing and verbal communication skills. Undergraduate degree required, Must have valid driver's license and an insurable driving record. Work shift may vary, but primarily work from 8am to 4p, and 3pm to 11pm.
Education/Vocation Specialist: Covenant House Pennsylvania has an immediate opening for an to assess the educational and job readiness needs of CHPA youth through individual and group testing and to implement CHOICES, a job readiness program for CHPA youth that includes resume writing, professional dress, presentation skills and other areas that will prepare our youth for the job market. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, working with CHPA youth to develop and attain short and long term educational and vocational goals; identifying financial aid and employment resources within the community for youth; and establishing relationships with employers to facilitate access to jobs for youth. The Ed/Voc Specialist is part of the middle management team and will be in the rotation for manager on duty (MOD).
Candidates must have an undergraduate degree, preferably in education, with 2-3 years experience working with youth as a teacher, counselor or facilitator. Must be able to work with youth who may have special needs. Valid driver's license and an insurable driving record are required. Candidates must also complete all required background checks which include criminal and child abuse clearances.
Per Diem Youth Advisors: Covenant House Pennsylvania is looking for individuals with flexibility to work various shifts on an as needed basis with homeless and at risk youth 21 and under. Shifts are: 10:30pm - 8:30am; 8am-4pm and 3pm - 11pm and includes weekday, weekend and holiday work schedules. Responsibilities include: monitoring activities, working with youth to achieve their goals; transporting youth to appointments, maintaining safe environment by adhering to Covenant Houses Standards and boundaries. Candidatae must have demonstrated knowledge of current issues facing youth. Prior experience working in a residential environment with similar population and familiarity with conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills are a plus.
Valid driver's license and proof of an insurable driving record are required. Candidates must be able to successfully complete required background and reference checks.
Part-Time Psychiatrist: Covenant House is offering a unique, part-time opportunity to provide psychiatric evaluation and assessment, develop and implement treatment plans to youth 21 and under at our Crisis Center in the Germantown section of Philadelphia.
Staff psychiatrist works with social worker to develop individualized goal plans to improve mental health. Also, develops and oversees mental health education programs for clients and staff. Provides comprehensive psychiatric services, including prescribing medications, maintains progress notes in accordance with State and local requirements, and conducts individual and/or group psychotherapy sessions. Additionally, consults with on site medical staff to ensure that all medical and physical factors are being considered in overall treatment plans.
Candidate must have an M.D. or D.O. degree with board certification in Adolescent Psychiatry and a minimum of 3 years professional experience. Experience with adolescents in a residential setting is a plus. Must be able to write reports, business correspondence and procedures manuals and to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, public groups and/or Board of Trustees. Must have and maintain a current physician’s license from the State of Pennsylvania and a valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record.
